FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is RESERVD?
RESERVD is a cash-clarity tool for small businesses on Xero. It shows what your cash needs to do: what has to stay protected for GST, tax, job costs and commitments, what keeps the business running, and what is genuinely safe to save.
Who is RESERVD for?
Australian small businesses that want to know what their money needs to do — trades and construction, services, freelancers, agencies, retail and online businesses, with or without employees. Job costing is there for businesses that work in jobs; it’s never required.
What happens after I sign up?
You confirm your email, answer a few short questions about your business (about five minutes — anything can be skipped and confirmed later), then connect Xero. RESERVD records the payments already in Xero as history, and from then on works through every new payment for you.
Is this accounting software?
No. Your bookkeeping and accounts stay in your accounting software. RESERVD reads that data (Xero today) to help with day-to-day cash decisions; it doesn’t record transactions in your books, lodge anything or change your accounts.
Does RESERVD replace my accountant?
No. RESERVD is a planning tool that works alongside your accountant. Its tax figures are planning estimates, clearly labelled until your accountant confirms the rate and approach.
Which accounting software does RESERVD work with?
Xero is available now. MYOB, QuickBooks Online, Reckon, CSV import and a manual mode for businesses without accounting software are planned — they aren’t available yet. Today, live figures need a Xero connection.
What happens when I connect Xero?
You sign in through Xero and choose your organisation. RESERVD then reads your bank balance, profit and loss, invoices and payments, and keeps syncing automatically. Your first sync records the payments already in Xero.
What happens to old transactions?
Payments already in Xero when you connect are kept as history, marked “Before RESERVD”. They’re never treated as new money, so nothing is set aside or counted twice. Only payments Xero records after you connect are analysed as new money.
How does Safe to Save work?
RESERVD starts with your cash, then sets aside what must stay protected (GST and tax not yet in your tax reserve, job costs still to pay, commitments and any ATO plan amount due), an operating buffer, planned tax and reserves. What remains is your potential surplus. Safe to Save is the part of that surplus that’s still available once known overdue liabilities, like an ATO debt without a repayment plan, are taken into account.
Is my data secure?
You connect through Xero’s own sign-in, Xero tokens are encrypted and kept server-side, and each business’s data is isolated at the database level. See our security page for details.
Can I cancel?
Free stays free. If you choose Pro, you can cancel any time from your account; Pro stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then your account moves to Free.
What happens if I disconnect Xero?
RESERVD stops syncing and destroys its stored Xero tokens. Everything already in RESERVD is kept, and nothing in your Xero books is changed. If you reconnect later, payments recorded while you were disconnected are treated as history.
Can I use RESERVD for more than one business?
Each account is connected to one business and one Xero organisation today.
Does RESERVD provide tax or financial advice?
No. RESERVD provides cash-planning information based on your connected accounting data and the settings you enter. It isn’t financial, tax or legal advice — speak to your accountant or adviser for that.
Does every account get Quote Assistant?
Every account can build quotes, create draft quotes in Xero and track their status. Quote Assistant — which turns an enquiry, plan or photo into a proposed quote — is in early access for selected trades.
